I was lucky to be in France for the first round (Premier Tour) of the Presidential Elections. There were 10 candidates and it was interesting to see how things are done compared with my home country (Ireland)
First of all the poster are highly regimented and each candidate has a designated spot on the panels which are erected in each village. No posters are allowed outside of this.
Voting always takes place on a Sunday. There were at least 10 candidates in the first round and two (Le Pen and Macron) made it to the second round.
In Plan de La tour Mr Fillion topped the poll but did not make it to the second round.
The second round takes place two weeks later (Mid May) when the president of France for the next 5 years will be selected.
